North Carolina Insurance Commissioner and State Fire Marshal Mike Causey announced today that after successfully completing the routine Insurance Public Protection inspection, Matthews Fire & EMS Department has received a Class 2 rating, joining only the top three percent of departments across the State.
"I'd like to congratulate Chief Kinniburgh for the department's performance and for the hard work of all the department members," said Commissioner Causey. "The citizens in the Town of Matthews should rest easy knowing they have a fine group of firefighters protecting them and their property in case of an emergency."
“The improved rating – putting Matthews Fire & EMS among the top departments in the state - clearly demonstrates the impact of significant investment in the department and clear direction under the leadership of Chief Kinniburgh,” said Matthews Mayor John Higdon. “We are very proud of the department’s achievements.”
