A community here in the East came together to support two brothers who lost their parents in a fire early Wednesday morning. At a home just outside of Princeville in Edgecombe County, Emergency Services responded to a fire that ended up taking the life of Larry and Helen Everette. Sheriff’s Lt. Wilson Muse says the call came in around 1:30 a.m. to a home on Highway 33 East, outside of Princeville. The lieutenant said the house was engulfed in flames when they got there. Fire crews from four fire departments were still putting out hot spots at 8:00 a.m. Friends say Larry and Helen Everette were in their late 60's and died in the fire, while their adult son Michael, who lived with them, was able to escape. Lt. Muse says Michael suffered some smoke inhalation. Friends and family in the community came out to the home early Wednesday morning and spent most of the day helping clean-up.
