Wilkes Fire Marshal Niki Hamby is investigating the cause of a fire that destroyed a small camper on Arlie Myers Store Road in Hays on Monday. The Mountain View, Mulberry-Fairplains and McGrady fire departments were dispatched to the blaze at 11:38 a.m. There was an initial report of someone possibly being in the camper when it burned, but this turned out to not be the case. Mountain View Fire Chief Brad Mathis said Jimmy Aldridge owned and lived in the camper.
