State reports more than 500 new coronavirus cases, more than 1 million total

North Carolina is reporting more than 500 new coronavirus cases with more than 1 million total reported in the state. Health officials reported 544 new cases of the virus Wednesday, and bringing the total to 1,006,809 since the first case was reported in North Carolina on March 3, 2020. The total number of people who have died of complications with the virus is now 13,230 in North Carolina. Officials said there are 554 hospitalizations. Officials also say 13,430,034 tests have been given in N.C. and the percent of positive tests reported was 2.7 percent. As of June 7, officials say 985,048 people were presumed to be recovered from COVID-19 in North Carolina. The state recorded its millionth confirmed case of COVID-19 in late May 2021.
