Fire Strikes Carrboro High School

On Friday, Oct. 22, 2021, at 3 p.m., members of the Carrboro Fire Rescue Department responded to a report of a fire in the 200 Block of Rock Haven Road, Carrboro High School. Responding fire crews arrived at 3:04 p.m. and found a two-story educational facility with nothing showing from the front of the building. Upon entry to the school light smoke was noted in the hallway around a bathroom area. Firefighters made entry to the bathroom and discovered a fire that had been extinguished by the school’s sprinkler system. After confirming the fire was confined to a bathroom stall, firefighters remained on scene to clear smoke from the school as well as assist school staff with the removal of water. There were no injuries to firefighters, students, or school staff. Initial damage estimates to the building and property are approximately $5,000.
