Less than 30 minutes from Lexington Fire Station 3, another jacket of Cpt. Ronnie Metcalf’s hangs outside the Denton Fire Department.
According to the department, Metcalf worked at Denton Fire Department for nearly 20 years, from 1992-2011. He recently rejoined the department with his son as a training officer. Denton’s fire chief, Brandon Dorsett, says Metcalf was fantastic at teaching firefighters, including himself, how to drive and operate fire trucks. “He was put here to help people,” Dorsett said. “And he served that role well.”
Dorsett says from entry to senior level firefighters, Metcalf could train anyone.
“A lot of us have made a career because of Ronnie Metcalf,” he said.
Ronnie Cook, the fire chief of South Davidson Fire Department, agrees.
