A Waffle House restaurant in Raleigh was evacuated after the roof caught fire early Sunday morning, firefighters said.
The blaze was reported just after 1:20 a.m. at the Waffle House at 3909 Hillsborough St., according to the Raleigh Professional Fire Fighters Association.
When fire crews arrived they learned everyone had been evacuated from the restaurant, which is about two blocks from the N.C. State campus and across from Meredith College.
Flames were “showing from the roof” with fire possibly spreading inside, a news release from the association said.
After a ladder crew arrived, firefighters determined the blaze was only on the restaurant’s roof.
