VIDEO: Sirens blared as multiple crews were called to put out a fire at Charlotte Douglas International Airport overnight. Officials said a fire broke out at the airport’s Burger King location shortly after 11:30 p.m. Thursday. WBTV photographers on the scene saw a handful of fire trucks sitting on the tarmac, as crews worked to get that fire under control. An airport employee also shared video that showed ladders reaching up to the roof. That worker said they did see firefighters walking around on the roof as they investigated the damage. A light haze from the smoke outside was also visible. Airport officials said passengers and staff were evacuated away from the area. Since it happened so late at night, leaders said there were minimal impacts to flights. Passengers on scene, however, said this did delay getting their luggage from baggage claim.
