Firefighters are investigating an apartment fire in Greenville on Thursday. The fire broke out in the 1300 block of West Pointe Drive, just off Statonsburg Road. Fire trucks responded around 4:30 p.m. with ladders above where the hole had caved in the apartment due to the fire.
“Around 4:30 this afternoon, Greenville Fire/Rescue was dispatched to a structure fire at 1301 West Pointe Drive. We arrived, we did have a significant fire in progress when we arrived, we worked to control the fire and the fire at this time has been extinguished and we are actively putting out hot spots,” Greenville Fire/Rescue Batallion Chief David Brown said. There is no official word on the cause. At 6 p.m., the fire was mostly contained. The roof of the building where the fire broke out had caved in.
