Medics said one person has died and another was evaluated by paramedics after a fire consumed a single-story home in southwest Charlotte, Saturday morning.
The house fire on the 6800 block of Dixie River Road was called in after 9 a.m. The Charlotte Fire Department said it assisted Steele Creek and other Mecklenburg County fire units to control the situation.
Assistant Fire Chief Jason Hardin said the initial call was for a medical call but things escalated. "While in route, the call was upgraded to a structure fire," he added.
Medic said the person who was rescued from the house was not transported to any hospital.
Chief Hardin confirms that no other homes were affected by the fire.
CFD said by 11:30 a.m., all units had been cleared from the scene.
