Calabash Fire Department crews responded to a structure fire off of Beach Drive Friday afternoon, Feb. 9.
A fire department representative said that crews had the flames under control by 2:57 p.m.
A press release from the CFD said that the blaze was reported at 10166 Beach Drive, the Carolina Shores Resort condominiums.
“The first arriving units found heavy smoke coming from a third-floor unit in Building 5. Two quick-thinking bystanders had held the blaze in check using four fire extinguishers, and firefighters were able to bring the fire under control within 20 minutes. One resident was treated on the scene for smoke inhalation but did not require transport. No other injuries were reported,” a CFD announcement states.
