Wilmington Fire Department and New Hanover County firefighters extinguish structure fire

VIDEO: Wilmington Fire Department and New Hanover County Fire Rescue crews responded to the scene of a structure fire at 6820 Market Street on Wednesday evening, Jan. 31. The Wilmington Fire Department responded to the fire, and NHCFR, WPD, Duke Energy and Wrightsville Beach Fire Rescue Truck 81 assisted. Per a spokesperson with the WFD, units were dispatched to the scene at 5:37 p.m. and the fire was put out by 8:42 p.m. No one was injured, and officials say the fire burned a property containing several marine service-related businesses but have not confirmed which businesses have been damaged by the fire. 11 businesses were on the strip, and seven were damaged, according to WFD. The WFD says the building will be a total loss. The WFD has ruled the fire accidental and does not know how it started.
