A Raleigh firefighter was taken to a local hospital after an injury he suffered while at a tree rescue call late Saturday morning, officials said.
The incident was reported just before 10:55 a.m. at a home in the 100 block of Brereton Drive, a street off Six Forks Road just north of Interstate 540.
The homeowners at the Brereton Drive house were trimming a tree in their yard when a limb broke under a 77-year-old man who was up in the tree, according to Raleigh Fire Department spokeswoman Jamie Cheveralls.
The man in the tree, a professional tree trimmer, was strapped in a harness and did not fall, but was unable to get down from the tree.
Fire crews were called to help rescue the man.
