The Greensboro Fire Department received a call about the entrapment at the Amber Ridge Apartments around 9:59 a.m. Upon arrival, firefighters found the tree that fell into one of the buildings, causing significant damage to the roof.
The tree was blocking residents from evacuating the building and firefighters had to enter through the second floor to rescue them.
The Red Cross said the damage impacted about 10 units and 17 people.
The apartment complex has relocated the displaced residents to unoccupied apartment buildings within the complex, according to the fire department.
