An Eastern Carolina volunteer fire department says a home fire Tuesday evening has been ruled accidental. The Jamesville Community Volunteer Fire Department was called to a home fire in the 1100 block of Grey Farm Road around 6:45 p.m. Tuesday. When firefighters arrived, officials say smoke was coming from the second story of the home. The fire department says the fire was quickly put out as crews attacked flames on the outside and stairs leading to the house. Officials say after an investigation, the home fire was ruled accidental and was caused by a short circuit from an electrical outlet with a space heater plugged in. The fire department says one was injured.
