VIDEO: A garbage truck burst into flames on Wednesday afternoon along Spring Forest Road in Raleigh. The area was blocked with yellow tape before 1 p.m. near Hargrove Road. A video sent to WRAL News by a witness at the scene shows large flames shooting from the ground. According to Raleigh police, the fire appeared to come from a garbage truck. Firefighters responded to the scene. Dominion Energy confirmed the fire was not due to a gas leak. Sources told WRAL News the garbage truck is fueled by natural gas, which is likely why it was engulfed in flames so quickly. When the tires got hot enough to pop, the explosive sound was audible. The man who shot the video told WRAL News crews he couldn't believe it was happening.
