The Fairbury Rural Fire Department received a special donation on Monday night. For a long time, the department has needed a proper storage place for their large, 40×20' American flag, which is used for funerals and other special occasions. On Monday, local repair man Dennis Clauson, and his wife Rose, officially donated a handmade wooden box to the department. That box will serve as the proper storage space for the American flag. Fairbury firefighter Steve Zimmerman says any type of community support is always appreciated. “It’s a tremendous support to have people in the community that rally behind us,” Zimmerman said. “Whether it’s special events, like safety events we have with the kids, any kind of help like that is tremendous for us. We feel like it’s a positive influence for our community.”
