A benefit was organized at Prairie Pride Brewing to help a Grand Island firefighter in his fight against cancer. Loonie Mitteis has been with the Grand Island Fire Department for about 18 years and earlier this year he was diagnosed with bladder cancer. His coworkers put together a fundraiser to help cover some of his medical costs. However, Mitteis is now planning to pay it forward and donate the money raised Sunday to someone else who might need it more. Fire boots were available all around the tables for donations and people enjoyed a nice afternoon with good food and drinks.
