A special cause is making sure families in need have presents under the Christmas tree. So far, Saline County officials have provided over 520 gifts to families.
"This year is the biggest it's ever been and we are really hopeful that the community continues to pull together and help us get as many toys as possible," Senior Patrol Officer in Crete, Audrey Arbuckle said.
The Crete Police Department, the Saline County Sheriff's Office and all of the local volunteer fire departments in every Saline County town are a part of what's called, 'Operation Under the Tree.'
They found a need in the community for kids and their families looking for Christmas presents.
"This program here, every kid getting a present is a great cause, every kid should smile on Christmas morning I think," Fire Chief in Crete, Todd Alan said.
