A 30-year-old man has been arrested after police said he lit his Lincoln apartment on fire. Crews responded to the Arapahoe Village Apartments around 12:30 a.m. Sunday on a report of a fire inside one of the apartments. Firefighters reported seeing heavy smoke coming from second floor of complex. The Lincoln Police Department said Trent Burgess lit his apartment on fire and told officers it got out of control after adding an accelerant. Officers said all the apartments were full except one at the time and while people were evacuating, Burgess told residents he started the fire. Burgess was arrested and is facing first degree arson charges. According to LPD, Burgess caused around $250,000 in damages. No injuries were reported, but several residents from the apartment building were displaced as a result.
