A suspicious package at a south Lincoln apartment complex Wednesday afternoon has been cleared, according to Lincoln Fire and Rescue. LFR and the bomb squad were called to Old Cheney Place Apartments near 27th Street and Old Cheney Road around 1 p.m. A woman told a 10/11 reporter that she ordered three bridesmaids dresses which arrived in the mail Monday. However, she said when she opened the package it had the three dresses and a metal cylinder inside. The woman spoke with the company on Tuesday who said the metal cylinder didn’t come from them. She said the package weighed four pounds when it left the company’s facility but believes the package now weighed around 15 pounds. According to LFR, the bomb squad identified the suspicious item as a pump and cleared it as having no explosives. Authorities are still unsure how the item got into the package in the first place.
