Lincoln Fire and Rescue responded to a fire at a northeast Lincoln recycling facility for the third time this year, but this time it was to put out a forklift fire.
Crews were called out to Firstar Fiber near 48th and Superior Streets just after 2 p.m. Tuesday. LFR said crews were able to contain the forklift fire. The structure was not damaged and no injuries were reported.
LFR said the fire caused an estimated $2,000 in damage to the forklift, which is repairable.
This is the third fire at Firstar Fiber this year, according to LFR. On Feb. 13, a cardboard compactor worth $500,000 to $1 million was destroyed in a fire.
LFR spokeswoman MJ Lierman said that fire crews have gotten used the building’s layout and can quickly handle fires there.
