Rural volunteer fire crews battled flames Wednesday at an outbuilding in northern Lancaster County. Fire crews from Raymond and Valparaiso responded to the outbuilding near Northwest 84th Street and Rock Creek Road around 2:20 p.m. Chief Deputy Ben Houchin said the inside of the building was a total loss. A pickup truck, a trailer, numerous car parts and several tools were also damaged. Houchin estimated the fire caused $170,000 in damage. No one was home at the time of the fire. The Nebraska State Fire Marshal Agency’s investigation is ongoing, but officials think a faulty electrical connection sparked the flames.
