Thursday, the Ithaca Fire Department welcomed a new member and promoted two others during a promotion and swearing in ceremony. Ithaca Fire Chief Tom Parsons and Ithaca City Clerk Julie Holcomb presided over the promotions of newly promoted Lieutenant Trevor Peyus and Assistant Chief Thomas Basher, Jr, and the swearing in ceremony for newly hired firefighter Ryan Saul. Officials say Saul is almost done with his basic training and will be joining on one of the four shifts for Ithaca firefighters once he is done. Lt. Peyus will be working on the Department's “D” shift and Asst. Chief Basher will be heading the Department's Training Division. All three say they are “excited to bring their skills and talents to their roles in the department and help keep Ithaca a safe place”.
