The concern is real for first responders when they take to the roads. But, what about when they stop and are working alongside the road?
Seven workers have been killed across the U.S. in the first two weeks of 2020. It’s a concerning statistic, according to Ontario County Sheriff Kevin Henderson.
His office tweeted out the statistics, which were picked up by local media.
“These are alarming numbers,” he told the Messenger Post. “We don’t want to see these numbers climb.”
The National Safety Council says there were an estimated 40,000 roadway deaths in 2018. It’s a number that has hovered around 40,000 annually for the last several years.
