PHOTO: A Larchmont woman and a small child were injured late Wednesday afternoon when her 2020 Volvo SUV was traveling on I-84 eastbound in the Town of Greenville and crashed into a Greenville fire police truck, a Ford F550, that was parked in the passing lane of the highway with emergency lights on. The fire vehicle was blocking the lane for a car crash that was about a half-mile ahead.
A full-size fire truck was parked a quarter-mile ahead of the fire vehicle also in the passing lane to block traffic.
The right lane and shoulder were open for passing traffic.
The driver of the SUV, Keri Hostetler, 41, was traveling east on I-84 when her vehicle rear-ended the fire vehicle causing the Volvo to overturn. Hostetler was trapped inside while the child was able to free herself.
While extricating the operator, the engine compartment caught fire, but that was extinguished, and the woman was removed from the car.
