At approximately 12:55 AM, on Saturday, September 5th, Nassau County Fire Communications (Fire-Com) alerted the Department for a report of a porch on fire on Hilton Avenue. 1st Assistant Chief Devyn Moody was on the scene at 12:57 AM and relayed to responding units of a working house fire and that all occupants were out of the home.
Engine 145 from Fire Headquarters was the first responding unit and due to close proximity to Fire Headquarters, was on scene in under one minute. Engine 142 from Station 2 was en route within three minutes of dispatch, followed by Ladder 147, Engine 143 and Ladder 144.
Assistant Chief Moody and Assistant Chief Taunton began interior and exterior operations while Chief Strysko established incident command.
