Firefighters rescued a 15-year-old boy from a house fire in Ontario County. The fire started at a home on Palmyra Street in Shortsville at around 11:45 p.m. Wednesday. When first responders arrived, flames were coming from the roof and back of the house. Deputies tried to make it to the second floor to rescue the boy but encountered heavy smoke on the first floor. They then tried to make entry through a second-story window, but the fire quickly spread to the front peak of the home where the power line created a hazard for deputies. Firefighters quickly arrived and rescued the boy from the second floor. He was flown to Strong Memorial Hospital for treatment. News10NBC is working to get an update on his condition. Deputies say an adult and four other kids got out safely.
