First responders from around the tri-state area gathered for a football game in honor of fallen Spring Valley fighter Jared Lloyd. The Tri-State Shields football team, which is comprised of law enforcement and military personnel from New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, took on the FDNY team on Saturday. The first responders played in honor of 35-year-old Jared Lloyd, a volunteer firefighter and Altice USA employee. Lloyd died on March 23 while rescuing trapped fire victims at an assisted living facility in Spring Valley. One resident died in the fire and at least one firefighter was injured, but over 20 residents were rescued from the flames. One woman that Lloyd rescued was Angelina Dichiaro, who attended the game in his honor. She says, "I was in bed, I heard the fire alarm…the firefighter knocked on the door and said get out of the room."
