VIDEO: Steuben County officials gathered in Bath Monday morning to get a new Fire Mobilization & Mutual Aid Plan approved by the legislature. The revised plan gives firefighters quicker emergency response time between towns located within miles of each other along the New York/Pennsylvania border.
“Being a county that sits on the border of another state, it creates a number of challenges but also opportunities, and certainly in those border towns.” Jack Wheeler, Manager of Steuben County said.
Specifically, Steuben County's plan includes mutual assistance with fire departments in Tioga County, P.A. Wheeler was thrilled to put that declaration of collaboration in writing Monday morning.
“The plan helps to codify that, but it also provides the update for the mutual aid that our fire departments provide each other daily,” Wheeler said.
