PHOTOS: Syracuse Fire Department confirmed a firefighter was brought to the hospital after sustaining burns to the legs battling a house fire on Oneida Street in Syracuse.
A fire broke out around 11 p.m. Tuesday at a two-family, two-and-a-half-story home with several doors on the exterior boarded up.
Complicating matters, live power lines had burned off the building and were lying in the front yard of the home. Due to downed power lines, National Grid had to cut power to the entire 600 block of Oneida Street to make the scene safe for crews working.
After a brief search inside the home, no trapped occupants were found. Firefighters initially fought the fire inside on the first floor but soon discovered the fire was also on the second floor and the attic.
