VIDEO: Crews were on scene early Sunday morning responding to a fire on Learned Street in Albany. Learned Street is located between Thacher Street and North Ferry Street off of Broadway. Shortly after 4 a.m., NEWS10 captured video of flames coming from the roof of the building. Smoke could be seen from 787. According to Albany Fire Chief Joseph Gregory, crews were dispatched just before 2 a.m., and extinguishing the flames at the warehouse came with challenges.
“It has a lot of paper product in it. It’s an old structure that has heavy timber construction throughout, so that posed some challenges to our firefighters, but they did a great job knocking the fire down and containing the fire to just this structure only,” Gregory said. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
