VIDEO: Fire officials say flames broke out early this morning in an unattached garage in Port Jefferson and then spread to a home on East Main Street. It took eight fire departments to get it under control. The detached garage was destroyed by the fire. Two cars were also damaged. News 12's Carline Flynn was told the house had three apartments. All the apartments have sustained damage, and the tenants had to evacuate. The fire was so intense that it also caused damage to the next door home. News 12 is told one firefighter suffered a minor injury to his hand. No one inside the homes was injured. One neighbor from across the street says the fire made her nervous, and it sounded like gunshots. "I have 3 dogs and am by myself, so I did get a little nervous," says Jeanne Kulich.
