PHOTOS: Less than 24 hours after battling a high-rise fire, Syracuse firefighters were called to the scene of a house fire on Park Street Thursday evening.
Firefighters responded to the scene just after 8:45 p.m. Smoke could be seen from a block away and the heat from the flames was so intense that a vehicle in the house’s driveway was beginning to catch fire as well.
There were initial reports of occupants possibly still inside the home. Once teams of firefighters moved hoses into the house and began extinguishing the fire, other teams of firefighters worked to systematically search both floors for trapped occupants.
All searches were negative, there was no one inside when the fire started. As hose teams moved further into the house, on the first and second floor, they encountered several rooms fully engulfed in flame.
