A Friday night fire displaced the homeowners of a Lowville house.
According to the Lowville Fire Department, they responded to a call shortly before 10 p.m. Friday. Upon arrival, crews found a bathroom with the room’s contents on fire.
Crews were able to extinguish the fire within 15 minutes, however, they say they gutted the bathroom to ensure the fire didn’t extend to any other rooms. Other parts of the house did receive minimal smoke and water damage.
Officials with the fire department believe that after some cleanup, the building will still be liveable.
The homeowners were able to retrieve belongings before heading elsewhere to stay for the night. They were checked for smoke inhalation on scene and no other injuries were reported.
A burning candle in the bathroom was determined to be the cause.
