Marion County Fire Chief has died

William Blakely “Billy” Wallace, Sr., 75, died Saturday, June 9 at Carolinas Hospital System of Florence, surrounded by his loving family, according to Richardson Funeral Home in Marion County. The funeral home's website said Wallace served as a voluntary firefighter for 57 years and spent the last 19 years as Chief of Marion Rural Fire Department. Many of his fellow firefighters said Wallace will be dearly missed. Funeral services take place at 11:00 AM Wednesday at Reedy Creek Baptist Church, burial will follow at Palmetto Memorial Gardens. The funeral home said the family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Richardson Funeral Home.
