Florence Fire Department responded to a structure fire early Wednesday morning. At 4:40 a.m., crews responded to the blaze at an apartment located at 500 Woodland Drive. Crews used two 1.75 hose lines and forced the front door open to do a search of the structure and extinguish the remainder of the fire. They had the fire under control in about 30 minutes. There were injuries reported. The cause of the fire is not yet known. Florence Police Department and Florence County EMS were on the scene. The Florence Fire Department wants to remind residents to make sure heating sources are away from combustibles and that their home has working smoke alarms.
