VIDEO: A fire at Generations of Batesburg-Leesville, an assisted living facility in Lexington County, displaced 52 people from their apartments on Saturday night. Officials say it could’ve been much worse.
Those residents at Generations of Batesburg-Leesville are now currently living in the Gen 3 building at the facility.
Around 5 p.m. Saturday, caregivers at Generations of Batesburg-Leesville were getting ready to serve dinner to residents. Suddenly, a smoke alarm outside the kitchen goes off.
Immediately, employees Raven Bletcher and Karenza Williams spring into action, running back and forth helping residents out of the burning building. Caregiver Kelly Conyers was off the clock and rushed over. She got to the facility just in time, helping all residents get out safely.
