The Dillon County coroner confirmed that one person died in a crash Thursday afternoon on Highway 301 near Canal Road between the Latta and Sellers communities in Dillon County. According to LCpl. Lena Butler with the South Carolina Highway Patrol, two units were involved in the collision, a 2005 tractor-trailer Freightliner and a 2019 Ford Transit van. Butler said that the van was moving north on Highway 301 when they traveled left toward the center and collided with the tractor-trailer which was traveling south. She added that the driver of the tractor-trailer was injured and airlifted to the hospital, while the driver of the van succumbed to their injuries on scene. The victim's identity is not being released at this time.
