Joe Don Warren, who served in the College Station Fire Department for 35 years, was sworn in Tuesday by Brazos County commissioners as the county’s first full-time salaried fire chief. According to Warren, while serving as assistant chief of administration for CSFD, he noticed an advertisement posted in September by the county’s Precinct 4 Emergency Services District, or ESD.
“So with their budget, [the ESD] decided to hire a full-time fire chief for Precinct 4,” Warren said.
Warren retired from the College Station Fire Department on Halloween and started serving as chief of Brazos County’s Precinct 4 on Nov. 11. He replaced interim chief Joe Dannenbaum, who had been juggling a career at Texas A&M with managing the department, Warren said.
Since joining the volunteer fire department, Warren already has overseen response to several medical calls, three structure fire calls, and on Tuesday, a grass fire.
