Bastrop Fire Department and multiple other agencies worked to contain a house fire that sparked a brush fire and led to some temporary evacuations early Thursday morning. BFD crews responded at around 2:56 a.m. to the structure fire in the 100 block of Mokaluna Lane in the City of Bastrop. About 1 hour later, while crews were working to put out the house fire, they were notified of a brush fire in the area so additional resources were called to the scene. Bastrop County Emergency Services District (ESD) 2, Smithville Volunteer Fire Department, Heart of Pines Volunteer Fire Department, Manor Fire Department, Travis County ESD 11, Acadian EMS, Bastrop County Long Term Recovery Team, Bastrop County Information Technology Drone Team, and the Bastrop County Office of Emergency Management responded to assist.
