VIDEO: Federal authorities are assisting investigators at the scene of a fatal house fire in Salt Lake City. An investigator with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) was seen inside the home in a protective mask Friday night, 14 hours after fire crews were called to the area of 700 East Logan Ave.
Salt Lake City Police, Salt Lake City Fire, and a mobile command unit also remained at the scene.
According to fire officials, neighbors reported hearing screaming and saw flames coming from the house before 7 a.m. Friday morning.
Firefighters found the body of an elderly man inside the home once flames were extinguished.
A fire department spokesperson told 2News Friday night that the investigation remains active and there were no new updates to release at this time.
The victim’s identity has not been released.
