Fire crews hope to fully contain the Knolls Fire on Thursday after bringing the human-caused blaze to 97% containment late Wednesday afternoon.
Drier conditions and wind caused some internal flare-ups in the blaze, which ignited June 28 south of Saratoga Springs and west of Utah Lake, but those were quickly suppressed by crews, according to Utah Fire Info. A total of 162 personnel have been fighting the Knolls Fire, including eight engines, four 20-person crews and one helicopter.
About 13,000 residents who had been evacuated were able to return home Monday. The fire destroyed one home and damaged 12 others.
