PHOTO: At least eight families were displaced Tuesday after a fire at the fourplex on 1067 E. Wood Avenue, officials said. The fourplex spanning the area from Wood Avenue to Bryan Avenue had heavy smoke and flames upon the fire crew's arrival, according to Salt Lake City Fire Captain Anthony Burton. The fire was first reported by the fire department shortly after 1 p.m. Flames were coming from the roof and moved through the attic space from west to east, Burton said. Fire crews were able to get the fire out quickly, but it appears some of the fire extended into the living areas. Officials said that around eight to 10 families were displaced by the fire, but there were no injuries. The fire appears to be accidental, but the cause is still under investigation, Burton said. Further details were not released.
