Military vehicle catches fire, scorches land near Dugway

A military vehicle caught fire and started a ground fire near Dugway, Utah. The fire, totaling about 1.5 acres, according to Terra Fire Chief Gerald Neil, was put out and there were no injuries. It started when the military vehicle stopped working and had to be hauled. Some further problem caused the four rear tires to catch fire and caused an estimated $200,000 in damages to the military vehicle. The fire also damaged the pavement. Fire crews responded included Dugway Fire, Terra Fire, Tooele County Fire Wardens, a Bureau of Land Management that assisted with the grass fire and UDOT.
