First responders across Utah are sharing their stories of responding to serious traffic crashes in hopes of spreading a message of safety before the upcoming holiday weekend.
“We see glass, broken vehicles and sometimes some pretty gruesome scenes,” said Anthony Burton, a captain with the Salt Lake City Fire Department.
Burton made a special point to warn people that many serious crashes don’t necessarily happen on long road trips. “I remember one from years back, and folks were essentially just traveling within their own small community,” Burton said. “They were just going from one house to the other, they forgot to put their seatbelts on. They had icy road conditions around a turn and had a tragic crash.”
