Lynchburg Fire crews were on the scene of a plant fire for more than five hours Monday, working to contain flames and smoke. It happened on Hydro Street at Appalachian Tank Car Services. Firefighters say the fire started in a dust collector. They say the company uses the machine to clean out rail cars before they refurbish them. Fire crews say the fire was relatively small but its location made it difficult for crews to access. The first responders had to run miles of hose to reach the fire. They say no one was hurt.
