The Moneta Volunteer Fire Department purchased its newest truck as a demo model, which means it is a low-budget truck, according to Chief Jeremiah Calhoun. The truck was bought from Atlanta Emergency Solutions, a Pierce dealer.
“So after sitting down with the dealer, we added a couple of options that were a need for the truck — and not a want — so we could still keep it to a low figure,” Calhoun said.
The truck cost $315,000, non-equipped. Through a contribution of $125,000 from the Bedford County Board of Supervisors for apparatus replacement and the sale of the department’s 1999 Freightliner Tanker for $165,000, the department only had to pay out $25,000 for the new truck.
