Franklin County Fire Chief urges caution after weekend floodwater rescue

VIDEO: Several hometowns across the region are still wringing themselves dry after a weekend full of rain. The floodwaters had receded by Monday, but local first responders said they were busy with calls this weekend. In Franklin County, several areas saw flooding, including three different sections of Callaway Road. The wet weather took some by surprise, with nearly 10 inches of rain soaking communities like Callaway, the town’s Volunteer Fire and Rescue Chief James Webb said The heavy downpours flooded roadways and created dangerous conditions. Crews had to rescue one woman along Callaway Road after her car got stuck in about four to five foot deep water, according to Webb.
