A house in Hanover County is severely damaged after a fire broke out early Friday morning. Hanover Fire and EMS were called to the fire on Caruthers Way at about 3 a.m. The two-story home was "heavily involved with fire" when crews arrived, said Hanover Battalion Chief Gregory Martin. All of the residents were able to make it out of the home safely, and no injuries were reported. Martin said crews were able to get the fire under control in about an hour. The family is crediting their smoke alarms for alerting them of the fire.
